Beach Camping Kit (NEW) Description
WHY YOU NEED THIS KIT
Camping at the beach can be tricky, especially when the afternoon sea breeze kicks in. That's why we developed the Beach Camping Pack. Standard tent pegs are completely useless in sand and beach conditions. Sand Dog Screw in Pegs® provide reliable anchoring where others fail completely in coastal environments.
Peace of Mind: Sleep soundly knowing your awning is properly secured, even in unexpected weather changes.
Performance: Made from tough fibreglass reinforced nylon. Designed to withstand the elements and are built to last, making it an essential item for your beach camping trips.
Unique Features:
- 450mm length Sand Dog Screw in Pegs® - Goes deeper than standard pegs for superior hold in sand.
- Wide 50mm flutes - Maximum surface area contact for exceptional grip in sand.
- Reinforced Nylon Build - Won't rust or corrode in saltwater environments.
Setting up is a Breeze
Assemble Components
- Attach the longer piece of the Tie Down Strap to the Safety Spring by passing the loop end through either end of the Safety Spring then place the other end of the strap through the loop and pull through.
- Connect the shorter piece of the Tie Down Strap to the tie down point by either placing it around the awning barrel and pass the cam buckle through the loop on the other end or if using poles, attach the looped end of the shorter piece to the top of the pole.
- Scrape away the top layer of loose soft sand to expose the more compact sand.
- Drive in the Sand Dog Screw in Peg®.
- Attach the Safety Spring with Tie Down Strap attached, and tighten, stop when the Safety Spring starts to stretch. (Do not stretch the Safety Spring out of shape). Secure the loose end of the tie down strap in the retaining clip.
Weather Considerations
- Your Camping Gear is a big investment, make sure to use enough Sand Dog Screw in Pegs® to properly secure your camping gear.
- Strong winds expected: be ready to pack down in a hurry to avoid damage.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Peg won't go in: Check you're turning counterclockwise. Ensure adequate downward pressure. Try alternate location if ground is too hard or pre-drill hole using a 12mm masonry bit.
Strap too tight/loose: Adjust tension gradually, do not over tighten. (If the safety spring is elongated, it has been pulled too tight). Remember awning needs some flexibility in wind.
Peg pulling out: Sand is too soft (nothing will hold in loose sand). Scrape away top layer to expose the more compacted layer of sand.
Awning stress: Reduce strap tension, safety springs should not be distorted.
