Description
The Ultimate Peg for Beach & Sand Camping
BUILT FOR SAND • ENGINEERED TO HOLD • READY FOR ADVENTURE
Why Sand Dog Screw in Pegs®?
When you're setting up on sand, your gear needs serious anchoring power. That's where the Sand Dog Screw in Pegs® come in. Purpose-built for the beach, these 450mm pegs deliver unbeatable grip, fast setup, and no-hassle removal - no matter how windy it gets. Standard tent pegs simply don't work in sand. They pull out easily, bend, or get buried and lost. Sand Dog Screw in Pegs® are specifically engineered to grip and hold in loose sand conditions where other pegs fail completely.
Key Features:
Sand-Specific Design:
- 450mm Length - Deep-set anchoring power that reaches below the loose surface sand
- Wide 50mm Flutes - Extra surface area creates maximum grip in sand
Built to Last
- Reinforced Nylon Construction - Won't rust, corrode, or degrade in saltwater
- UV Resistant - Handles constant sun exposure without becoming brittle
- Lightweight - Won't weigh down your beach gear
Easy Setup & Removal
- 19mm Hex Head - Quick install with standard drill socket or manual installation
- Double Hook Head - Secure attachment point for safety springs, or tie-down straps
- Easy Removal - Reverse out cleanly without digging
Pro Tips for Beach Camping
Placement Strategy:
- Space pegs at least 1 meter apart for optimal holding power.
- Avoid areas where waves might reach during high tide.
- In very loose sand, scrape off loose sand to expose the harder packed layer.
Tide Considerations:
- Always check tide tables before setup.
- Place camp well above high tide mark.
- Consider wind direction changes with tide shifts.
Wind Management:
- Use safety springs with your tie down straps to absorb wind gusts.
- Sand Dog Pegs work with all Ground Dogs tie-down systems.
- In extreme wind, use additional anchor points.
Maintenance:
- Rinse with fresh water after saltwater exposure.
- Check threads for sand buildup before storage.
- Store in ventilated area to prevent any trapped moisture.
ACCESSORY OPTIONS:
Stainless Collar (Optional Upgrade):
- Made from 4mm stainless steel and built for strength, the Ground Dog Stainless Steel Collar delivers a fail-safe connection between your gear and your Ground Dog Screw in Peg®.
- Ideal For: Tents, Tarps, Annexes, anything that has eyelets or D rings.
Compatible Accessories:
- Safety Springs - Absorb shock loads and wind gusts.
- Tie Down Straps - Heavy-duty anchoring for larger setups.
- 19mm Socket and Drill Adaptor - Essential for drill installation
- Ground Dog 19mm Hand Tool – Essential for when no drill is available
Troubleshooting:
Peg won't go deeper: You may have hit harder packed sand or debris. Try a different location or use more downward pressure.
Peg pulls out under load: Ensure peg is deep enough (at least 350mm buried). Check if dry loose sand is deeper than the Peg. Consider using additional anchor points for high loads.
Ready to Lock Down Your Beach Setup?
Whether you're camping in the dunes, setting up a beach shelter for the day, or securing your caravan awning in coastal winds, Sand Dog Screw in Pegs® are your no-fuss, no-fail solution for sand anchoring.

FAQs
Do I need special tools to use Ground Dog Screw In Pegs?
You can use a 19mm drill socket, or if you don’t have one, we include a hand crank as an option. We also recommend using a drill driver, not an impact driver.
How do I install the Sand Dogs if I don’t have a drill?
You can still install the Sand Dog Pegs without a drill. Simply use the top hole for leverage with a screwdriver, piece of pipe, or any sturdy rod. This allows you to manually screw the peg into the sand with ease.
Are Sand Dog Pegs suitable for other types of ground, or are they only for sand?
Sand Dog Pegs are optimized specifically for sandy terrain with a 50mm flute and extra-long 450mm length to ensure stability in soft sand. While they may hold in loose soil, we recommend Ground Dog or Tuff Dog Pegs for hard or rocky ground.
